Coal City High School (Mascot: Coalers) is a four-year high school in north-central Illinois. Coal City High School has had a history of notable athletic and interscholastic achievements. CCHS is perhaps best known for its teachers. The distinguished school is home of noted history authority and Illinois Teacher of the year Dean Vigna. Despite graduating from rival school GSW, Mr. Vigna has been shaping young minds for 29 years. Mr. Hamann is the current principal. Mrs. Rutkowski is the current associate principal. CCHS alum Kristen Verdun was named the 2010 Gatorade Illinois Player of the Year.
